Knavesmire Primary School is part of Excel Learning Trust who acts as our Admission Authority. The Trust participates in the Local Authority’s Co-ordinated Scheme for admissions and in-year admissions. More information on the admissions process, including appeals and oversubscription criteria can be found in the Local Authority’s guide for parents which can be downloaded here.
If parents/carers wish to apply for a school place, applications can be made via the ParentPortal. The Local Authority will confirm the outcome of the application in writing within 15 school days. If the application is refused, the Local Authority will advise on the statutory appeal procedure. Details of the Co-ordinated Admission Scheme and how in-year applications are managed is available here.

Children are admitted to Nursery in the term following their third birthday. Sessions are allocated in date of birth order to ensure a fair and consistent approach.
Every child is entitled to 15 hours free nursery school education and if you meet the extended free childcare entitlement criteria, you may be able to receive a further 15 hours free nursery school education. You can find out information about the nursery in the KPS Nursery Booklet and if you would like to apply for a place, please fill out the Nursery Application Form (please contact the office if you have any questions).
Once received, your application will be placed on the waiting list and you will be contacted when a place becomes available in line with the KPS Nursery Admissions Policy.

Please note that the Nursery and Reception class admission procedures are entirely different and that the allocation of a place in the Nursery does not in any way influence the allocation of places into Reception class.
